Itinerary

Start: You can start your birdwatching safari at 6:00 AM, 10:00 AM, or 3:00 PM.

If your hotel is within 10 km of Udawalawe National Park, we will pick you up for free. If you’re staying farther away, we can help arrange a comfortable taxi to bring you to the park.

The ride to the park is calm and peaceful. Depending on your start time, you’ll enjoy the cool morning breeze or warm afternoon sun. At the park entrance, your passport and ticket will be checked before your birdwatching tour begins.

Your jeep will move slowly through the park, passing lakes, grasslands, and forest areas. This is the perfect setting for spotting birds. You might see eagles flying high, colourful bee eaters sitting on branches, and herons standing quietly by the water. Look out for the rare Red Faced Malkoha, Indian Rollers, kingfishers, owls, and the Sri Lankan Junglefowl (Our national bird).

Your guide will help you find the best birdwatching spots and share facts about the birds you see. You may also spot other animals like elephants, deer, or monkeys along the way, but this tour focuses on enjoying the birdlife in quiet, natural surroundings.

Halfway through the safari, your guide will stop at a peaceful spot under the trees. You’ll enjoy a tea break or light breakfast here while listening to birdsong. Sometimes, you might even see birds flying nearby as you relax.

After the break, your birdwatching journey continues. You’ll explore more of the park and have more chances to see different birds in their natural home.

After about 03 to 04 hours, the safari ends. Your driver will take you safely back to your hotel or the meeting point. We want you to leave with peaceful memories and a deeper love for nature.
